24mo (5 11/16" x 3 ½"); 24pp; yellow wrapper, front printed with decorative printer's ornament borders surrounding the title and a vignette of a girl reading while another stands beside a round bookcase, rear wrapper features publisher's ad for twelve "Children's Books"; engraved fp and vignette of boy's playing tops on the title page; decorative alphabet printed on verso title page; 8 small wood engravings illustrating text; light handwear to wrapper, widely scattered foxing; near fine. There are three small stories in this lovely chapbook, "The Two Cousins," "The Water-Cress Girl," and "Oh! I Forgot It." An interesting addition to the decorative alphabet and numbers is punctuation marks.
