In North America, Victorian-era novelist Anthony Trollope records his thoughts and observations from his travels through the United States and Canada between 1861 and 1862, during the early stages of the Civil War. Interestingly, Anthony's mother also published an account of her experiences in the United States, a popular book in its time entitled Domestic Manners of the Americans (1832), which painted Americans in a decidedly less favorable light than Anthony's work. Anthony Trollope was a popular and prolific 19th century English novelist, best remembered for his six-novel Barsetshire series, and The Way We Live Now (1875), the latter a satirical novel that excoriates corruption in London. . Signed. Hard Cover. Very Good. Presentation Copy.
