"Will you please write me sertifying whether the Town of Portland [owes] in your office one hundred and Eight Thousand Dollars of the Second Mortgage Bonds of New Haven Middletown & Willimantic Rail Road if you will attend to it and send me your bill for trouble I will remit the somme to you and be very much obliged..."
