Very good. pp. viii, 282; 7.5" x 5.25", bound in full white vellum with gilt spine lettering, date at base of spine, beveled edges. Boards show light dust soiling, internally clean and sound, with two small bookplates (E.T.D. Stokes and Francis H. Lindley) on the front pastedown. An influential collection of poems, stories, and aphorisms considered a landmark of Persian literature. Although he is uncredited, the translator of this edition was Richard Francis Burton.
