Chamber of Commerce type map, with business, parks, and institutions located. View of Seattle before the tech and cultural boom of the 1990s. Seattle's history begins with the Denny Party's arrival at Alki Point in 1851, followed by the relocation to the eastern shore of Elliott Bay in 1852 and the official founding of the 'Town of Seattle' in 1853. The city grew rapidly, becoming a crucial shipping and trade hub, and today, a tech and cultural hub of the Pacific Northwest.
