Mulhouse: Imprimerie Veuve Bader et Cie., 1884. First edition. Rosenstiehl's seminal pamphlet on colour theory including Maxwell colour discs, the multi-coloured wheels that give the illusion of being a single colour when spun. Published by the Société Industrielle de Mulhouse after a conference given by the author in 1881. The text is illustrated with four pairs of discs and 49 colour swatches on 5 plates. Apart from damage to the original wrappers, a fine copy. Rare: OCLC finds no locations in the U.S., and only 7 worldwide.
