- Washington DC: Press of the Engineer School, 1912
Washington DC: Press of the Engineer School, 1912. Occasional Paper Number 48. 46pp. Octavo [23 cm] Light blue printed wrappers. Very good. Some minor overall fading to covers with some gentle discoloring to the corners. Short monograph written in a breezy style, describing an expedition of some seventy Army engineers and assistants, accompanied by eight mule drawn wagons and civilian teamsters. Their objective was to make a new road from the Platte River to the Green River, for the use of the Army, but no such road was made or found, the United States military continued to use the traditional route up the North Platte River. "It was a pleasant but pointless summer outing." - Mattes. Fales & Flake 134. Flake/Draper 7623. Graff 3734. Howes 300. Mattes 1644. Mintz 415.
