Light dust-soil, faint horizontal fold, contemporary ownership initials "A.V." to title page, else Very Good.

First appearance of this Ode by the poet-doctor Mark Akenside (1721-1770), who was appointed principal physician at Christ Hospital a year later, where "He wore a large white wig, and carried a long sword. He would order the servants... on his visiting days, to precede him with brooms to clear the way, and prevent the patients from too nearly approaching him" (DNB I, p. 210).
