Winnipeg: Ivan Tyktor, Publisher. Good. Twenty-nine volumes: 1-5, 8-11, 13-29 + four odd volumes; 7 x 5; pictorial wraps; some volumes with small labels with manuscript numbers to tail of spine and previous owner's signature to title page; a bit of wear to edges and corners; in good to very good condition. Ivan Tyktor (1896 - 1982) was a Ukrainian-Canadian publisher and social activist, who, before immigrating to Canada, would found in 1923 and run Ukrainska Presa Publishing Company in Lviv - arguably the largest and most important and successful Ukrainian publishing house in Western Ukraine. After settling in Winnipeg in 1948, he would establish The Club of Friends of the Ukrainian Book - in essence, an influential book club - which revised and republished a number of significant books issued by his earlier Ukrainska Presa (the current ones). Authors included Oleksa “Alex” Hay-Holowko, V. Birchak, Volodymyr Lopushanskyi, and many others. The beautiful cover art of the books was created by Myron Levytskyi (1913 - 1993) - famed Ukrainian-Canadian graphic designer, artist, illustrator, journalist, and author.
