This charming print of a female lion and two cubs appeared as Plate 3 in William Jardine's "Naturalist's Library", a collection of engravings depicting wildlife around the world. Engraved by William Lizars after an illustration by Nicolas Marechal. In very good condition.

William Home Lizars (1788--1859) was an engraver and painter based in Edinburgh. After the death of his father, Daniel Lizars, he took up the family engraving business and expanded into etching and copperplate printing. (Inventory #: 327886)
