Widely regarded as the founding text of experimental psychology, Grundzüge der physiologischen Psychologie laid the groundwork for psychology as a scientific discipline rooted in physiology and empirical observation. Text in German. 9 1/4 X 6 1/2". xv, [i], 725pp, plus ads; viii, 782pp; xi, 810pp. Complete in three volumes, bound uniformly in period half-calfskin with marbled paper over boards, spines ruled and titled in gilt, with marbled edges, dark green endpapers, and reinfoced inner hinges. Bindings show moderate wear to extremities and rubbing to boards, with hard bumping, small tears, and splitting to corners and spine ends. Bindings remain firm and sound, as well as visually appealing. Undeciphered ownership inscription to the title page of each volume; penciled bookseller notes, light toning, and scattered foxing to preliminaries and margins, otherwise pages clean and unmarked.
