With his father, fourteen-year-old Momolu travels from their remote Liberian village to the city of Cape Roberts where they learn many things about each other and the growing conflict between rural and urban in Africa. Graham (1902-89) was a pioneer of African American literature, perhaps best known for his novel South Town (1958). Octavo: [10], 226, [3] pp. Original green cloth binding, with black-stamped titles. Faint spotting to along the edges, with a bit of mild wear to the corners and tips. The dust jacket is a (truncated) little rubbed, with a small smudge to the rear panel; otherwise very good.
