Octavo (18.5cm); original pictorial card wrappers; [x],[3]-397,[9]pp. This copy is from the library of to Puerto Rican editor, translator, and literary critic Roberto Marquez, with passages marked by him (in ink) throughout the text, his holograph name on the upper half-title page, and inscribed to him by the author directly beneath: "Hermano y amigo / Bob / Who with me knows the whispers of the islands / [illegible] / Wilfred." Almost certainly this was one of Cartey's own copies, as on final blank page his holograph name, phone number, and NY address are written in red pen. Hint (truncated) of foxing to text edges and rear wrapper, a few faint reading creases, with some of the usual (inevitable) tanning to text edges; Very Good and sound.
