London: Gresham Publishing Co, 1897. Very good.. Splendid late Victorian edition of JANE EYRE, known for its beautiful Art Nouveau cover design by Talwin Morris. Considered a pioneer of the "Glasgow Style," Talwin Morris (1865-1911) was a prolific artist and book designer. His shift towards the characteristic lines and curves of Art Nouveau was especially influential for Victorian book design. The distinctive "peacock's crest" motif seen here would also grace a number of other titles released by the publisher — Austen's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, Thackeray's THE NEWCOMES, Benjamin Disraeli's CONIGSBY, and James Lever's THE CONFESSIONS OF HARRY LORREQUER.
