by KAWARA, On
Addressed to curator Zdenek Felix. PTT Telegramm telegram sheet, printed on one side. N.p.: [?1972].
An early Kawara I am still alive telegram, sent from New York to Zdenek Felix (b. 1938), a curator at the Kunstmuseum Basel. Kawara’s correspondence with Felix persisted through the 80’s and 90’s; he messaged the curator after Felix's moves to the Museum Folkwang (Essen), then the Deichtorhallen (Hamburg). It is estimated that Kawara transmitted ca. 900 telegrams from 1969 until ca. 2000. These communications often represented his only response to curators and collectors who contacted him about exhibiting or acquiring his work.
