Caught in the Middle (Complete two-issue run of the hip-hop 'zine)

Waukegan, IL: Caught in the Middle, 1995. Vol. 1, issues 1 & 2. A complete run of the rare mid-90s Chicago-area underground hip-hop 'zine. Bound in publisher's stapled wraps. 8.5 x 11" Issue #1 is Near Fine with its color centerfold of graffiti present and undetached from staples. Issue #2 has dampstaining to rear wrap and some light wrinkling along bottom inside edge of last half of pages or so. Centerfold present on this issue too, undisturbed from its staples. Rare. No copies found in OCLC. This short-lived hip-hop and graffiti culture 'zine accomplished a lot in its two issues. The first issue is purportedly the first feature on rapper Common (truncated) (then known as Common Sense), who graces the front cover. The magazines also has interviews with the Notorius B.I.G. (AKA Biggie Smalls), William Upski Wimsatt, and Craig Mack. Outsider rapper Kool Keith was a featured writer. The theme of the first issue was mixtapes and the second issue was hip hop radio.
