A rare poster issued by the Mohawk Nation as part of a series of works under the title, Akwesasne Notes, during the United States Bicentennial in 1976. The poster includes a large photographic portrait of Edward Curtis's "Flathead Chief" at top over a long quotation by him. The quotation laments the coming of the white man, which was at first a welcome development by Native Americans, but ends in misery: "His laws never gave us a blade, nor a tree, nor a duck, nor a grouse, nor a (truncated)
