An early Ottoman copy of (truncated) the Qurʾān, written by the scribe MevlānāʿAbd al-Awwal, who notes that this is the forty-fifth Qurʾān manuscript he completed. This is neatly executed on watermarked paper, with sūra titles carefully highlighted in red with decorative elements characteristic of Anatolian Qur’āns of the period. Although some pages are missing (two leaves from Ya Sin are loose but present) and many leaves show signs of heavy wear, the manuscript retains its historical interest, especially through the presence of two distinct inscriptions (ketebe) confirming authorship and date. Produced in A.H. 1029 (1620 C.E.), this Qurʾān offers insight into Ottoman devotional manuscript culture and the enduring scribal traditions of the seventeenth-century Anatolian region.
