[San Francisco]: [The Book Club of California, printed by the Grabhorn Press], 1927. Limited Edition. Vellum. Near fine. Angelo, Valenti. One of 250 copies, duodecimo size, 45 unnumbered pp., with slipcase. "The Gentle Cynic" is a translation of the Book of Ecclesiastes, the title of which is a Latin transliteration of "Kohelet", a pseudonym used by the author (n. b., info from Wiki). Morris Jastrow, Jr., (1861-1921), a librarian and scholar of Judaism, translated the work in 1919, writing, "I have chosen the book commonly known as Ecclesiastes, because of the intensely human interest attaching to this specimen of the ancient literature of Palestine."
