In the late 1950s, Boeing produced a supersonic long range surface-to-air missile capable of a nuclear payload. These pilotless aircraft were named Bomac (Boing Michigan Aeronautical Research Center) and would function as the air defense of North America until their deactivation in 1972. Andrew Boese found that Thomas Pynchon did some writing for Boeing through the Bomarc Service News. Boese found how difficult it was to obtain those BSN issues let alone read them.
