This tale takes place at the Lion d'Or, a family-run inn in the small Lorraine village of Granpere; it is "not only Trollope's very best shorter book, but one of the most charming idylls in English literature" [Walpole]. One of relatively few Trollope titles to be issued in only one volume, this copy is in the primary terra-cotta cloth binding, with a cross-cornered black frame on each cover (some copies are to be found in a secondary darker brown binding without the frames).
