This beautiful and scarce pocket map from 1862 depicts Manhattan in vertical orientation from 135th street to the Battery, with parts of New Jersey, Brooklyn, and Queens. An elaborate cartouche in the upper right corner features an interpretation of the New York City seal with a native American man, a colonial sailor, an eagle and a coat of arms.
