New York: The Grolier Club, 1902. First Edition. Half Vellum. Paper pastedown on boards. Slipcase with paper pastedown, all outer surfaces. Near Fine. Small discreet bookplate of legendary New Yor-based antiquarian bookseller of yore, H.P. Kraus. (It was not a sale item by Kraus, but a part of their reference library, so stated on the bookplate.) Limited edition, one of 305 copies printed. 4to. 27.5 by 18 cm. lii, 201 pp. After long intro, rectos devoted to the facsimiles, with facing versos furnishing a pithy quotation, often not by the author of the book facsimilized, but somehow relating to that book. The book was a beautiful prestige production. Light soiling of the vellum and the boards of the cover. Mostly clean within, with a few light spots or stains -- the soiling is very occasional. The slipcase has a patch of foxing, and its paper pastedown is mostly torn along one of its long edges where the spine meets a board. Slipcase retains its structural integrity as an effective casing to house the book proper.
