Two pages of hand written content by John Albion Andrew to William Schouler (1814 – 1872). Schouler was a journalist, politician and Adjutant General of Massachusetts during the American Civil War. Congratulatory letter reads - "Brig. Genl' Wm. Schouler Adjutant General General: I have the pleasure to acknowledge the receipt of the copies of your Report and to congratulate you on the completion of so great a task. I thank you most sincerely for your constant zeal and ability and (truncated) for the kind terms in which you have spoken of myself in the concluding sentences of the Report. Reciprocating its expressions of repeat and cordial good will, I am, General, faithfully your friend and servant [signed] John Albion Andrew. From wikipedia: John Albion Andrew (May 31, 1818 – October 30, 1867) was an American lawyer and politician from Massachusetts. He was elected in 1860 as the 25th Governor of Massachusetts, serving between 1861 and 1866, and led the state's contributions to the Union cause during the American Civil War (1861-1865).
