Boston: Published at 66 Cornhill, 1849. Small octavo in wrappers, bound with cord (16 x 10 cm.), 111, [1] pages. Table of contents. Second Printing, issued in a third printing wrapper (1850); originally copyrighted in 1847 "by H.B. Skinner and J.B. Hall", but not issued until 1848. The author is identified only as "the Good Samaritan" but later works published by Skinner & Hall indicated Skinner as the author. A 19th century guide to domestic medicines and other useful household recipes. Chapters include: Doctor at Home; Miscellaneous Department of Health, Medical Hints, Etc.; Diseases of Infants and Children; Roots and Herbs; Every Lady's Cook Book; Choice Medical Compounds: Valuable to Every Family; Indian Recipes; Ladies' and Gentlemen's Polite Teacher; Hints to Young Ladies; Chairman's Guide. Some light foxing throughout, and with an abrasion to fore edge of text block. Publisher's blue wrapper, with titled and decorated front panel with seven vignettes depicting a woman doing various types of housework; rear panel states "Price 25 Cents". Some wear to wrapper at foot of spine panel and general edgewear. Still, generally very good. [OCLC locates eighteen copies; Lowenstein 429].
