OCLC locates only 1 copy of the 1859 edition with this printer at UVA. First published in London by James Nisbet in 1855, and in New York the same year by Robert Carter & Brothers. The twelve "Evening" chapters are presented as conversations about the life of Jesus between a mother and her children. Beautiful engravings, many signed by Matthew Urlwin Sears (1798-1870) and by Sir John Gilbert (1817-1897).
