First edition thus? 16mo (6 7/16" x 4 7/16"); 95, [1]pp + [2], 3-16pp of publisher's ads; ornate blind-stamped design on maroon cloth over board, gilt letters on front and spine; glazed yellow endpapers; engraved fp with tissue guard, historiated first letter, head and tail-pieces; illustrated rear publisher's ads; spine lightly sunned, a few light fingerprints and scattered foxing; very good plus. OCLC locates one copy at Cambridge Univ. with these publishers. This appears to be the first edition with these two listed publishers. In addition to the two moralistic and religious stories, "Order and Disorder" and "A Sabbath in the Country," Bible verses are inserted to impress the reader with a sense of doing what is morally and socially correct.
