This is a rare printing of the constitution and by-laws of the Improved, Benevolent, Protective Order of Elks of the World (IBPOEW).

IBPOEW was established in Ohio in 1897 when the white Benevolent Order of Elks refused admission to African Americans seeking membership. The brotherhood distinguished itself from other fraternal orders by welcoming and accepting members with differing ideologies, and forging alliances across races and genders. With a present-day membership of over 500,000 in 1500 lodges, IBPOEW is the largest African American fraternal group in the world.

OCLC locates one copy.
