An attractively designed church cookbook emanating from a hamlet in Jefferson County (near Lake Ontario), whose central district is now listed in The National Register of Historic Places. The Methodist Episcopal Society traces its presence in Chaumont to the earliest days of settlement by Europeans during the first decades of the nineteenth century. The offering of Tried and True Recipes – 300 of them, a great many attributed– coincided with the dedication on 1 December 1897 of the New Church, following the decimation of the First Church in a fire the previous spring.
