Late Victorian Era Wedding Photo Album

1900. Hardcover. Very Good. Hardcover. Includes 22 original photographs, mostly of brides and grooms. Several have been hand colored. As is common with photographs from this period, the couple are not smiling, due to the long exposure times required. An attractive full leather photo album with working metal spring clasp featuring a metal lyre. Embossed and gilt decorations to both boards and spine. It appears that a label was once adhered to the crest on the front board; however, only remnants of glue remain. Rubbing to spine leather and wear to edges of boards and spine. Several pages do not hold photographs and are empty. Several pages have been repaired with tape. Chipping and tears to many pages due to photographs being inserted and removed. The photographs are in very good condition overall; although, many are rubbed. Some are underexposed. Overall, an attractive album with an interesting collection of vintage wedding photographs, most dating from the mid to late 1800s. It is unusual to find albums from this time period with working clasps. Unpaginated. About 26 pages including title page. Full edges gilt. PHOTO/072225.
