I Wanted to Write a Poem

  • Boston, MA: Beacon Press, 1958
By WILLIAMS, William Carlos
Boston, MA: Beacon Press, 1958. First American Edition. Octavo. 23.5cm. Publisher's brown cloth titled in white to spine. Dustjacket. [ix]; 99pp. A little light wear to the edges, minor bumping to spine ends, clean and tight; internally clean and fresh; in a bright, clean example of the dustjacket with some marginal creasing, sunning, and scuffing, with some light, shallow chipping to the head of spine. A very good copy, with a little shelfwear.

An unusual volume, in which Williams explains his poetic process, his method, and his inspirations in the form of an interview with Edith Heal. Not so much a biography of the man himself, as a biography of his work.
