Bound in publisher's black cloth slipcase lettered in white, housing a matching cloth-bound text volume and a black cloth chemise slipcase housing 80 folders containing 93 color plates with protective tissues collated complete, with softcover commentary volume. Plates are printed in as many as twenty colors, with a combination of silk-screen, four color separation and photo-offset processes. Near Fine. Slipcase with light fading, light fraying and several areas of excess binders' glue to cloth at edges. Light fading to spine of Commentary, several tissueguards are slightly edge-worn.

The German-born artist and educator's exploration of color and the art of visual illusion. Albers proposed that colors are not static entities but are influenced by their surrounding colors, a theory that is highlighted here in this masterfully produced suite. In his own words, "..the aim of art is to reveal and to evoke vision. I indicate indirectly that art is not an object, but art is an experience.
