Bound in publisher's brown cloth stamped in blind and gilt, yellow endpapers. Very Good with sunned and moderately rubbed cloth and slightly bumped corners; overopened with stitches showing. Alcott's first book, a compilation of fairy stories written by the sixteen-year-old author for Ellen Emerson, Ralph Waldo Emerson's daughter. The first edition was printed in a run of just 1,600 copies, most of which were loved to death by their owners, making the book even scarcer. BAL142.
