Woodcut royal coat-of-arms to title. 46, [2] pp. 12mo (157 x 98 mm.), 19th-cent. blue morocco-backed marbled boards, spine gilt. Paris: Herissant pere, 1769.

Scarce Salon livret, from the library of prominent museum curator comte L. Clément de Ris (1820-82). Ca. 92 artists exhibited 259 paintings, drawings, sculptures, engravings, etc. We note the participation of Boucher, Vien, Lagrenée, Vanloo, Chardin, De la Tour, Vernet, Baudoin, Leprince, Robert, Amand, Lépicié, Huet, Greuze, Hall, Le Bas, Tardieu, Wille, etc., etc. A two-page Arret from 1714 regarding the counterfeiting of artists’ prints is bound-in at the end. In excellent condition, with notable provenance. de Ris amassed one of the greatest collections of art exhibition catalogues, and he has added the year he acquired this volume — “1859” — alongside his ownership inscription to the recto of the first blank leaf.
