MY ABC OF SHIPS

  • Akron, Ohio: Saalfield Pub. Co, 1921
Akron, Ohio: Saalfield Pub. Co, 1921. Very good.. Sturdy Saalfield "linentex" picture book, teaching children their letters via a nautical theme. More durable and pleasingly tactile, cloth-printed books for children became popular around the turn of the century. Saalfield issued these cheaper "linentex" books on paper that was impressed to have a linen-like feel, combining the strengths of cloth books with the smaller expense of paper-printed books. The standout in this book is a double-page spread of "Loading a Steamship for a Long Voyage across the Ocean." 10'' x 8.5''. Original color pictorial linentex wrappers. Illustrated in color. [12] pages including wrappers. 2'' closed tear to spine, some creasing, light soil, and other signs of wear. Bright and firm.
