New York, New York, 1870. Good. Light toning, dust soiling, small stain to front, with short tears and damage to one edge of envelope.. A handsome bit of advertising history: a chromolithographed envelope advertising a hair restoring product. Offered as a free gift with purchase, the envelope is a "Perfumed SACHET Place this unopened in Drawer or Trunk, the Odor is delicious". No traces of the original perfume or potpourri in this example, sadly, but probably contained dried lavender or rose petals originally.
