Chicago: Fairbank Canning Co., 1880. Very good. Two large trade cards, n. d. (1880s); 5 1/4 x 3 1/2; text and lithographed illustrations to rectos only; generally mild age-toning; one with lower right corner cliped (not affecting image) and a crease to lower margin; overall in very good condition. 'The Man and the Ox" and "The Huntsman and the Lion" - the two classic Aesop's fables were published - "revised and improved" to include the Fairbank name in the stories - as an advertisement for the Fairbank Canning Company. The business was founded by Nathaniel Kellogg "N.K." Fairbank (1829–1903) in Chicago and would become widely-known for its cooked canned beef.
