16mo (6 ½" x 4"); viii, [1]-240pp; three quarter bound brown calf and marbled boards, gilt-ruled and stamped ornaments in the 5 spine compartments, black leather label with title onlaid to spine; gift presentation inscribed on title page dated "27 July 1829"; small engraved illustrations; scuffing to boards, chipping to spine, front joint starting, lacking ffep and front flyleaf, some light soiling on pages, spine cracked but stitching holding tight; very good minus. A collection of poems and short stories. The second of two volumes of the Annual that were published, 1828 and 1829. Probably the first English children's Annual per Carpenter and Prichard's The Oxford Companion to Children's Literature (p. 136). Delicate wood engravings decorate the pages.

Jameson, Madame de Labourt, Mr. R.A. Lynch, Mrs. Markham, Miss Mitford, and Mrs. Neely. Includes the first printing of Miss Maria Edgeworth's (1768-1849) story, Garry Owen; or, The Snow-Woman.
