N.pl: T.J. & J. Smith, 1860. Very good. A couple leaves sometime excised. Lacking original pencil. Light dust soiling, rubbing/wear to extremities.. A pocket-sized memorandum book made with lined paper treated specifically to prevent erasure: "Recommended as an article of great utility when the writing is required to be permanent, the paper having an Ivory Surface, the writing appears very distinct, while the commercial purposes, [?] forms a complete substitute for Ink & when written with the accompanied Pencil it cannot be obliterated" (upper cover). Originally issued with a "Metallic Pencil" (not present with this copy). Single vol. (5.25" by 2.75"), approx. 50 lines leaves in original marbled paper wrps with engraved paper label pasted to upper wrapper. Early pencil inscriptions on inside upper wrapper: "R.B. Clark's Book Chicago Oct 4" and "M.E. Clark". Early notes to final free leaf.
