Vaughan was a disciple of Cornelius Agrippa, His works were first published in the mid-seventeenth century. After the Restoration, he enjoyed the patronage of Sir Robert Moray, first president of the Royal Society. He accompanied the court to Oxford to flee the plague in 1665, but died possibly of mercury poisoning.
Scarce in first edition and in original, though soiled, binding.
