S. l.: s. n., 1890. Very good. Small broadside, n. d. (late 19th century); 8 1/2 x 5 1/2; beige stock, printed in black; a small nick and creasing to lower left corner; a few spots (not affecting readability); in about very good condition. Though research has not revealed much about Brin the Magician, there is plenty of history surrounding Barnello the Fire Eater. Born in Decatur, Illinois, Edward A. Barnwell (1857-1910) was, arguably, the best-known fire eater of his day. He began performing magic as young as 12 years old with Professor Morley, a puppeteer and ventriloquist. He was also known for walking on coals, for writing two books - "The Red Demons, or Mysteries of Fire" and "Barnello’s Voodoo Incantations: How to Eat Fire," and for briefly publishing a magazine - "The Magician" - possibly the first journal dedicated to magic in the US.
