A very good plus jacket, slightly toned and with light wear along fore-edges. 8vo. 351 pages. Original red cloth, lettered in black. In the pictorial dust jacket with a design by Lester M. Peterson. The first American printing was issued as a Book Club Edition in 1945, preceding the trade edition. As such, this Book Club issue is regarded as the true first American edition.
