Atlanta, Georgia, 1895. Very good. Light toning, dust soiling.. A 2" by 3.75" printed ticket that doubled as a souvenir of the Cotton States and International Exposition, an event held in 1895 in Atlanta, Georgia. Left-hand edge shows evidence of stub that has since been removed. Includes a portrait illustration of Samuel Martin Inman on the front, a prominent cotton merchant from Georgia. This particular ticket allowed entry into the exposition's "Atlanta Day" on Thursday, November 28th, 1895. The 1895 Cotton States and International Exposition was held to promote the culture and industries of the American South. Exhibits highlighted the region's rich history of agriculture, manufacturing, arts, and literature. It was also the setting for Booker T. Washington's famous "Atlanta Compromise" speech on race relations.
