Report of the Connecticut Inter-Racial Commission to His Excellency Raymond E. Baldwin, Governor of Connecticut
- [Hartford] , 1944
[Hartford], 1944. Very good.. 34pp. Original printed wrappers, stapled. Uneven toning to wrappers, with pencil notations on front cover and ink stamp reading "Pamphlet File Copy." Tiny chip to fore edge of front wrapper and title page. Internally clean. A scarce report from the Connecticut Inter-Racial Commission to the governor of the state during World War II. The report contains five sections, including the organization of the commission, "The Problem" that they studied, the proposed solutions to the problem, recommendations, and supplemental data. The work contains detailed information on the committee's objectives and defines the "Problem" as racial tensions in employment, educational opportunities, housing, public facilities, and "rumors." A good third of the work discusses proposed solutions and recommendation for improving the situation.
