1851. LANE, C. Lane's Telescopic View of the Great Exhibition, 1851. Oblong 8vo, in a new cloth folding box. Published by C. Lane; C. Moody, High Holborn, London, 1851. A peepshow consisting of 10 hand-colored lithographic cardboard panels (8 with die-cut openings) connected by accordion-folded undyed calico; extending to 28 inches depicting the interior of the original Crystal Palace, with objects and figures, to be viewed through a round hole in the first panel.The peepshow depicts the interior of the huge Crystal Palace, built in Hyde Park of glass and iron, with the statues, trees and foliage brought in for the exhibition. After the exhibition, the Crystal Palace was relocated to Southeast London, where it was destroyed in a fire in 1936. Lacking the original slipcase. Montanaro, p. 304.
