New York: The Vendome Press, 1979. Octavo (22 x 16.5 cm.), 155 pages. Illustrated with drawings by Nigel Paige. FIRST EDITION. A stylish yet odd bar book from British Vogue columnist Henry McNulty. A series of essays on individual wines and spirits, with recipes for various mixed drinks within the narrative. The narratives are delightful, ranging from reminiscence of the author's first encounters with alcohol to some herb-based medicinal drinks of the past. From Sherry Flips, to Fishhouse Punch, Cooch Behar, and Cow Shots. Offsetting to endpapers, otherwise internally clean and sound. In publisher's dark gray cloth, titled in silver. In a slightly age-toned but otherwise fine, unclipped dust jacket. Overall very near fine. Inscribed by the author on the free front endpaper, "To Susan and David, Who know and appreciate all the best mixtures – With best wishes, Henry McNulty"
