Bound in quarter leather and marbled paper boards with gilt lettering and decoration to spine. Heavy rubbing and wear along extremities, especially at corners of boards. Chipping to leather at head of spine. Scuffing to boards, heaviest at bottom of front board. Fading to dye on top edge of texblock. Fore and bottom edges of textblock lightly speckled. With marbled endpaper. Light foxing scattered throughout interior. No. 13 aged heavier than other issues. Shelved above Case 2. Le Monde illustré was a weekly news magazine published in France from 1857 to 1940 and from 1945 to 1956. It contains a large number of black-and-white wood-engraving prints, many of which were made from actual photographs.
