Raleigh, N. C.: Printed by W. E. Pell, State Printer, 1867. 31, [1 blank] pp. Disbound, loosening, old rubberstamp on blank portion of title leaf. Mild foxing. A half page addition is laid down on page 19, a portion of General Gwynn's Report to the Literary Board in 1867 concerning "the fertility of the lands drained by Mr. Franck." Good plus.

A post- Civil War, early New South pamphlet issued at the behest of the Governor, seeking to attract immigrants and capital. It promotes lands in North Carolina which many had erroneously considered unusable.
The "Literary Board" was apparently the North Carolina Board of Literature, which was tasked with publishing information about the wonders of North Carolina.
Not in Thornton. OCLC 38902760 [4- Newberry, UNC, ECU, Nat. Agric. Lib.] as of November 2025.
