This is the electoral ticket for North Carolina Democrats supporting Lewis Cass in the 1848 presidential election. Cass won the nomination but lost to the Whig Winfield Scott.
His elector Thomas Bragg, Jr., was elected Governor in 1854. Another elector, Asa Biggs, was a Congressman, a U. S. Senator, and a judge. Other listed electors enjoyed similar prominence in North Carolina's public affairs.
