Four (4) Original Pen Drawings and Rhymes

  • [Nashua, New Hampshire] , 1920
By [Mabel Rebecca Noyes]
[Nashua, New Hampshire], 1920. A charming set of four (4) original pen drawings with accompanying rhymes (perhaps once meant for a friendship album?), pasted onto a single sheet of 8.75" by 3.75" paper. Each is sweet with a sense of humor, and seem to be attributed to "Mabel Rebecca Noyes"-- of whom we can find no information, save that she attended Wellesley College in 1923. An example of the kind of sweet humor: "There was a young lady Rebecca / Whose brain was a good double-decca / She'd a great saving head / For both boxes and thread / She'll make a good housewife, by hecca". The rhyme is accompanied by a drawing of a woman balancing a stack of boxes.
